If the character you made is really that hard to look at or you've gotten sick of looking at it, just get a Mask of the Mo Zing or something else that completely covers up the face and bag your character's head. Problem fixed?

Solution 1. Delete remake but fashion show is your game so thats out of the question.
Solution 2. Use a helm to cover your face.
Solution 3. Get a blindfold to cover your cross-eyed warrior not like they are doing much help to her now.
All I see here is a QQ over how your virtual warrior doesn't seem fit for your liking.
Personally I think your better off quitting Guildwars and go play something like My little Pony or something where everything is all cute and fuzzy and you don't have to worry about whether your look good or not.

Yeah and I think you need a hug because you seem like a very bitter person.
The brow is different, the nose is different, and so is the chin.
If that is "almost" to you, then everyone "almost" looks exactly like [insert celebrity name here].
I don't even see how you are trying to make this about me. This isn't about me. Of course I would like it, I've explained why I would like it. But, this is for everyone.
I don't see how you trolling me is doing anything other than giving you +1 either. It certainly isn't adding anything of substance to this thread.
I don't think "suck it up" and "go play another game" are valid reasons why this idea should not be done. So, unless you have something a bit more adequate to say, I'd suggest you simply refrain from posting.

I hate helmets. I don't wear them on any character.

Well you seem to be new to the forum (october 2008 seems recent to me), which is of course what I meant. If you continued to read you would discover that every thread like this that has popped up becomes merged into that thread. This thread will not stay open very long because it has already been suggested...many, many, many times. It's something a lot of us want, and your idea is no different; simply the execution.
But really if you're going to be so pedantic about it you could still have used the search function and come up with these:

Seriously, should I keep going? I three word search showed up quite a few more than i've bothered to link.
Don't get me wrong, I'm totally /signed on the idea of being able to customize my character later, but after so many suggestions on the same a search definitely would have been in order.

Exactly.
They won't waste their time on many things in GW1.
So when they do something - it would be nice if they looked into stuff like the absence of balance in PvP and PvE.
Full hero parties would also be advisable considering the players are left playing solo more and more these days.
Improve the report system.
And then there are the numerous bugs.
Those are game breaking issues - rather then just "Oh noes - I don't look pretty anymore!".

I wonder if you will be able to take your own advice....
Hmmm personalized characters are the heart of an RPG game right?right? or not? Or maybe it is just mindless clicking like in Tetris? You know people have their preferences and they do differ there....
I wonder when I will see people in Sardelac all mature enough to be able to discuss an idea without unnecessary personal attacks on the OP or other posters...

seeing as you have all the options from the beginning i dont think it would be that hard to implement a button to change some things. when i first made my monk, i didnt know you could rotate the character so he ended up with a pony tail. i didnt really hate it that much at first, but now i have to wear the bandana to cover that nasty thing. please allow us to change it.

Although this has been suggested many times before I still /sign for some degree of ability to mod the char appearance: Skin color (tanning beds), hair style (hair dressers), body shape (?personal trainer).
If anet plays it right it can be the new gold sink.
Im pretty sure they wont though..

For me it is about realism not the realism of this world but the realism of the GW world, I recon some things are similar to this world.
You can build muscles get fat get old even go bald those are within reasonable parameters.
You could dye your hair and maybe that is possible for the game as well as hair styling.
The very fact that characters have hair styles rather than the shaggy unkempt look would indicate they either do their own or see someone.
So changing should happen.
Tattoos and scars are in the game as armour they can be dyed and what's very weird you can remove them.
So there exists in game code the ability to modify the skin and to dye part of it.
How much recoding would be necessary to modify it

Well, the real question is... Would it negatively affect you by allowing other people to do it that really want it if you simply choose not to?

Yeah, ability to change appearance and/or name would be good.
It's also one of the oldest suggestions here in Sardelac, going back to 2005, and repeated countless times since then.
In short, yeah it would be nice, but it's not going to happen.

Like stated many times - if this means that no resources would get shifted from other issues, then I seriously can not see anyone being against it. It would be a nice bonus. Heck, they could even charge for it in the online-store.
But like you said - they aren't investing much resources into GW1. So the chances of this taking away resources from (what we consider to be) more important issues probably aren't so small.
I was all for the ability to change the appearance - if you search you should find one of my MANY threads (and posts) where I moan and throw tantrums on how the guys fugged my character - but these days I am just hoping that if they do that one thing in GW it will be something like fixing the AI. I can live with my characters being ugly - but if the AI is dumb as hell, then I prolly won't even care about the appearance of my guys since I prolly won't be looking at them anymore.

I have a bunch of characters from the release of this game. Since then, many things have been added or changed. Let's not forget a simple 'growing tired' of the same thing after three years. At any rate, I've been reduced to wearing a bandanna on my first character to cover up the hair.
Let's face it, this game has a lot of vanity. To a certain extent, Anet knows this and it's proven by the existence of 15k, vabbian and obsidian armors. If the looks mean so much to players then why stop them from having a hair stylist or face changer. Especially since the quality of the faces/hairs have increased by each release. (I'm almost exclusively nightfall these days when I make a character)
Lastly, let's not fool ourselves about the difficulty or time needed to create this option. To those that say 'it's not possible' then *knock knock* hello! we're dealing c o m p u t e r s here. To those that say it'd take too much time, at most it'd probably take one person less than a week to write up and debug the code. Probably more like a day or two really.
I've heard the 'not possible' line too often in other online games and it sickens me because it's always proven at a later time that the line was just B.S. I remember RO back in the day, the idea of color/hair change was unfeasible yet when the source got leaked, private servers had NO PROBLEM implementing it.
We don't have these stylists because Anet can't do it, we don't have them because Anet doesn't want to/hasn't gotten around to doing it. I bet half the community could create this feature in no time given the opportunity by Anet so it's really a shame it doesn't exist, especially since it wouldn't hurt anyone.

Don't get me wrong - I am also VERY much into having pretty characters. You should just check out a few of my few million pink armors I have!
What I am saying is that if they don't fix the more pressing issues - the fact that my guys are pretty won't help them in the slightest. I just won't play the game.
I can look at pretty folks in other places.
Heck, I can just look in the mirror!

Sorry all, Im going to have to agree with at least the hairstyle change option. A-net should add a barber shop, charge according to the style you choose and let the people who are concerned about how their toon looks be happy. You dont want to change your toon, then don't. Everyone is satisfied.
